Earlier this week, we introduced the six influencers who will be joining us on the winter winelands road trip we’re doing in partnership with Wesgro.
Now, it’s time to give you a little peek at our itinerary for the 4-day adventure, starting next Wednesday 18 July.
Where we will be staying
We’re super excited to be staying at the newly rebuilt Lanzerac Hotel & Spa for the duration of our trip. This is an especially momentous occasion, as large parts of the hotel and spa succumbed to a fire in May last year. The Lanzerac team have been hard at work rebuilding and refurbishing, combining elements of the old with some truly spectacular new touches.
Wine partners we will be visiting
We’ll kick off our adventures with a welcome dinner at the stunning Delaire Graff Estate on Wednesday evening, followed by a visit to the Durbanville Wine Valley on Thursday.
Here we will pop in to Nitida for a late morning wine tasting, followed by lunch at Diemersdal. After this, we will head to De Grendel for a scenic drive through the vineyards and end our day off with a tasting of their wines and some canapes.
On Friday, we’ll spend the day exploring Bosman Family Vineyards in Wellington. This will be a lovely educational experience, as the focus of our morning there will be on rootstock - origin of the vines, sustainability and stories of the people behind the wine. Our visit will be perfectly rounded off with a lunch at Petrus and Carla Bosman’s family home.
For the last full day of our adventure, we will be heading out to Hermanus’ Hemel-and-Aarde Valley for a legendary food and wine pairing at Creation Wines, hosted by owner Carolyn Martin.
So, all in all, the crew will get the chance to taste wines from three different regions, offering glimpse of just how diverse the Western Cape winelands offering is.
The Party
In true Joburg Wine Club style, we will be ending the campaign off on a high note with party at Lanzerac Hotel & Spa.
There will be delicious canapes and superb wines by Lanzerac, La Motte, Lourensford, Alto and De Grendel.
If this sounds like something you’d like to attend and you’re not on the guest list yet, we might still have a spot for you. Get in touch on social media or via email and tell us why you think you should be there!
How we will be getting around
Our wonderful partner, Adventure Shop, will be providing us with a shuttle and a driver to get us safely and comfortably from one wine-related activity to the next.
We’re pleased to have such a multi-faceted tour operator on board and can highly recommend booking one of their excellent guided wine tours through the Adventure Shop website.
